Micron (MU) Stock: $884.74 Week Ahead After Intel’s…

Updated 31 October 2026. Micron (MU) closed Friday 30 October at $884.74, down $49.53 or 5.30 percent, and traded at $889.15 after hours (StockAnalysis). It was the second straight drop of about 5 percent, leaving the stock 10 percent below Wednesday’s $983.23 close. Friday’s selling came from Intel, which blamed high memory prices for a PC slowdown it expects to last into 2027. Verdict: the market is now worried about who can afford the memory, not about whether Micron can sell it, and AMD’s results on 3 November are the next test. Reference levels: $800 below, $985 above.

Key facts

  • Price: MU closed at $884.74 on 30 October after an $861.59-$906.54 range, on 30.9 million shares; after hours it was $889.15. For the week it was up 0.8 percent from the $877.55 close on 23 October (StockAnalysis).
  • The trigger: Intel guided fourth-quarter revenue to $15-$16 billion, below expectations, and blamed high memory prices for weaker PC demand; its stock fell 28.58 percent (TIKR, StockAnalysis). A Barron’s report highlighted Intel’s warning on memory costs (GuruFocus).
  • Micron’s exposure: mobile and client products brought in $13.1 billion in fiscal Q4, about 24.2 percent of $54.2 billion in revenue (GuruFocus).
  • The outlook: Micron guided fiscal Q1 2027 revenue to $61.5 billion, plus or minus $1.5 billion, with an adjusted gross margin of about 86.25 percent (Micron’s 30 September release via GuruFocus).
  • Sector: TIKR reported Dell down 12 percent, HP 10 percent and AMD 9 percent on Friday; Benzinga put the chip sector’s lost market value at about $1 trillion.
  • Targets: the average analyst target is $1,562 and the median $1,550 across 49 analysts, with a Strong Buy consensus (StockAnalysis).

From a supply story to a demand question

For most of October, memory traded on scarcity: SK hynix said its capacity was sold out, Sandisk’s datacenter revenue rose 61 percent in a quarter, and Micron’s own fiscal Q4 gross margin reached 87.0 percent (GuruFocus). Intel’s report put the other side of that trade on the table. If memory is scarce enough to lift Micron’s margins, it is also expensive enough to raise PC prices, and Intel says that is now hurting demand. Dell and HP are passing higher memory costs on to buyers (TIKR).

That is a narrower risk than Friday’s price action suggests. About a quarter of Micron’s revenue comes from mobile and client devices; the rest is tied to data centers and AI, where Intel itself reported Data Center and AI revenue up nearly 80 percent. GuruFocus summed up Micron’s position as “feeling the squeeze from the consumer side of the AI boom.” Our Intel week-ahead page has the full guide.

Thursday’s drop had a different cause – the reaction to Sandisk’s results and Alphabet’s capex, covered on our Friday Micron page. Sandisk itself fell 13.47 percent on Friday; see our Sandisk week-ahead page.

What analysts said this week

Before Friday’s drop, Citi’s Atif Malik kept a Buy and a $1,300 target on 29 October, Bernstein’s Mark Li reiterated Buy at $1,300 on 28 October, Bank of America’s Vivek Arya kept Buy at $1,550 on 26 October and Wedbush’s Matt Bryson kept Buy at $1,400 on 23 October (StockAnalysis). No firm in that list has changed its Micron view since the Intel report. The 52-week range is $192.59-$1,255.00.

The week ahead

Tuesday 3 November – AMD results after the close (AMD). AMD sells into the same PCs and servers that buy Micron’s memory, so its client guide will show whether Intel’s PC warning is company-specific or industry-wide. The same day brings the US midterm elections. Friday 6 November is the October jobs report, which shapes the rate outlook for long-duration growth stocks.

Micron stock week ahead: bull, base and bear

Scenario MU What has to happen Anchor
Bear $800 AMD confirms a deep PC decline, more PC makers blame memory costs, and the market starts pricing lower DRAM contract prices. About 9.6 percent below Friday’s $884.74 close and below the $858-$862 lows of 23 and 30 October.
Base $860-$935 Memory stabilises after two 5 percent drops while investors wait for AMD. Friday’s $861.59 low up to Thursday’s $934.27 close.
Bull $985 AMD reports strong data center demand and a PC outlook milder than Intel’s, and the market returns to the supply story. Recovers Wednesday’s $983.23 close, about 11 percent above Friday’s close and still below the $1,255 52-week high.

The bear case sits below Friday’s close. These are reference levels measured from the verified close, not forecasts.

What to watch

  • $861.59: Friday’s low. A break would erase the week’s gain.
  • AMD’s client and data center guide on 3 November.
  • Sandisk’s split countdown: SNDK begins split-adjusted trading on 20 November and remains the most volatile memory name.
  • PC maker comments on memory pricing, which now move Micron as much as AI capex does.

Quick take: Micron closed at $884.74 on Friday, down 5.30 percent, after Intel blamed high memory prices for a PC slowdown that it expects to last into 2027. About a quarter of Micron’s revenue comes from mobile and client devices. Expect $860-$935 into AMD’s 3 November results; $800 if AMD confirms the PC slump, $985 if the market returns to the supply story.
