Five Industries You’ve Not Considered Investing In Until Now

The global economy is huge – and nowhere is that more apparent than when it comes to the options for investment. There’s a plethora of investment opportunities out there – from foreign exchange to cryptocurrency, many of these are readily apparent and obvious.

However, there are some industries that don’t have this sort of name recognition and a world of information behind them. From the online gambling sector to beautiful art, there are plenty of sectors that hold the potential to be profitable – but which, at this moment, you may simply never have heard of.

This article will delve into these lesser-known investment target industries and provide some direction if you’re thinking about investing somewhere new yourself.

Online Gambling Sector

For most people, the online gambling world is nothing more than a destination for leisure and entertainment. However, there’s a thriving business scene behind it. As websites like Casino Source reveal, there’s significant demand for what are essentially privately-run gambling services.

For an investor, this spells good news: a chance to potentially profit. Figures show that the size of the worldwide online gambling market is due to skyrocket to around $72.02bn this year – so there’s clearly a lot happening here.

You’ll need to ensure that you take care when investing in the online gambling sector, though. High demand is not enough of a basis on which to make a solid investment. You’ll need to make sure that you do your due diligence if you decide to invest in individual gambling businesses such as Entain or Playtech. If you choose an investment product that tracks the performance of the whole sector, you’ll need to be sure that you’re picking one which suits your risk appetite.

Freight And Logistics Companies

One of the issues that has constantly been receiving front-page coverage in recent weeks and months is the supply chain crisis that seems to be impacting many countries around the world. There is a desperate shortage of workers in the freight and logistics sector, which is struggling to keep up with rising consumer demand as we slowly emerge from the pandemic.

Despite these supply chain issues; goods still need to be moved. Regardless of whether it is essential medicines or the latest consumer electronics being moved, where there is demand for goods, there is a need for someone to transport it.

With these factors in mind, one sector that is certainly worth looking into investing in is the freight and logistics sector. This sector also has the added benefit of being relatively stable during economic recessions, so even though the economic outlook seems uncertain at the moment, you could still achieve solid returns.

Art

Often, art is overlooked by investors on the basis that it doesn’t appear to be as commercial or money-oriented as, say, foreign exchange, but nothing could be further from the truth. Art is, in reality, a highly commercialised sector with a wide range of investment opportunities available.

If you’re a newbie investor or you’re looking for new opportunities, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to snap up the next original Picasso or Monet that comes up for sale on the global markets. However, it’s certainly possible to buy art a little lower down the name recognition ladder. One way to go about this is to visit some exhibitions by graduates at major university art departments and snap up some items there.

While you might not own the work of the global artists of today, with a little planning, you may be able to own the work of the global artists of tomorrow. That’s an investment skill right there!

Unusual Properties

When people in the UK think of investing in property, they often think first of buy to lets. These properties are designed to be occupied by individuals or families – so, in other words, conventional households – on a long-term basis. However, the alternative property market in the UK is booming. One specific sub-type of buy to let is student accommodation. Buying up houses with many individual rooms in student towns can be a good way to make an investment.

The appeal of this sort of property investment for many people is that it can, potentially, provide a steady return as there is often no shortage of students looking for places to live. However, there is no guarantee – so again, it’s essential to do your research.

Cannabis

Although for much of the last century it has been subject to tight controls and legal restrictions, the world is gradually opening up to the possibility of making the consumption of cannabis legally permissible.

The United States has been a front runner in this regard, and as more and more states legalise the consumption and purchase of cannabis products, the industry continuously surges in growth. This industry covers both recreational and medicinal cannabis consumption—also known as marijuana and CBD.

The hemp-derived CBD market is set to hit record levels of growth over the next few years, with the usage of CBD products becoming increasingly mainstream. As a sign of this mainstreaming of cannabis products, not only are celebrities and athletes getting sponsored by companies in this industry, they are even setting up their own businesses in this sector!

With this in mind, marijuana, CBD, hemp, and other cannabis-related companies could be a really solid investment!
