AMD Stock: $560.26 After 5.45% Jump on Meta Helios Deal…

Updated 28 October 2026. AMD closed at $560.26 on Tuesday 27 October, up $28.98 or 5.45 percent, its best session of the chip rally, after saying its Helios rack-scale systems are installed and in testing at Meta and that it will put $1 billion into Meta’s equity offering (AMD; Gotrade, citing Yahoo Finance and Nasdaq.com). Verdict: the Meta news turned a rebound into a breakout above last week’s range, with third-quarter results due on Tuesday 3 November. The Fed decides at 2 pm ET today. Reference levels: $516 below, $658 above.

Key facts

  • Price: AMD closed at $560.26 on 27 October, up 5.45 percent from $531.28, after opening at $539.49 and trading between $538.50 and $563.92. Volume was 20.6 million shares, close to the 30-day average of 21.3 million. Market value is about $914.6 billion (Gotrade, citing Yahoo Finance and Nasdaq.com).
  • The range: the 52-week range is $188.22 to $658.52, leaving Tuesday’s close about 15 percent below the high (Gotrade). On Thursday 22 October the stock dropped 8.1 percent after a Lam Research warning and closed at $516.79 the next day (FX Leaders).
  • Meta: in a release issued at 9:20 am EDT on 27 October AMD said initial Helios rack-scale systems are installed and being tested at Meta, with broader deployment expected soon, and that it will invest $1 billion in Meta’s equity offering. AMD EPYC processors support the computing behind Meta’s Muse AI agent (AMD).
  • Lisa Su: “With Helios now running at Meta, we are taking that partnership to a new scale,” the chair and CEO said (AMD).
  • The offering: Meta plans to raise up to $95 billion, starting with $35 billion; Nvidia is investing $3 billion (Yahoo Finance; Nvidia).
  • Results: AMD reports third-quarter results on Tuesday 3 November after the close (AMD). Management guided revenue to about $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million (Yahoo Finance preview).
  • Analysts: GF Securities raised its target to $720 on 27 October; Stifel raised to $700 from $635 and expects a beat-and-raise quarter; Susquehanna raised to $620 from $550. The average of 55 analysts is $637.61, with a range of $365 to $1,250 (GuruFocus; TipRanks; Yahoo Finance; StockAnalysis).

From rebound to breakout

A week ago AMD was the weak link in the chip group: an 8.1 percent fall on 22 October, a $516.79 close the following day. Monday’s 2.8 percent gain, covered on Tuesday’s AMD page, was a bounce with the sector. Tuesday was different. AMD gained 5.45 percent against 0.90 percent for Nvidia, on a company-specific reason: Helios, its first rack-scale system and its answer to Nvidia’s NVL72 racks, is running at one of the largest buyers of AI hardware.

The equity stake matters for a second reason. Meta’s raise, analysed in our Meta offering piece, funds data-centre spending that AMD and Nvidia both want a share of, and both suppliers are now shareholders. AMD also has gigawatt-scale agreements with OpenAI and Meta and a deal with Anthropic for up to 2 gigawatts of MI450-series GPUs (The Motley Fool via Yahoo Finance).

What the analysts disagree on

The split is about guidance, not the quarter. Stifel expects a beat-and-raise and sees fourth-quarter guidance as the bigger mover. GF Securities’ Jeff Pu expects in-line results and warned current-quarter guidance may fall short, even as he raised his target, citing agentic AI, server CPU demand and Venice packaging yields approaching 99 percent (GuruFocus). Susquehanna flagged possible weakness in second-half client processor sales. One structural overhang: OpenAI and Meta each hold warrants to buy up to 160 million AMD shares at one cent, none vested as of June (The Motley Fool).

AMD into results: bull, base and bear

Scenario AMD What has to happen Anchor
Bear $516 A hawkish Fed or weak hyperscaler capex tonight unwinds Tuesday’s jump before the 3 November report. The 23 October close of $516.79, about 7.8 percent below Tuesday’s $560.26 (FX Leaders).
Base $540-$590 The Meta gain holds and the stock trades the Fed and big-tech results into the print. Tuesday’s $538.50 low to just above its $563.92 high plus a results-week margin.
Bull $658 Strong capex from Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon and a beat-and-raise on 3 November send the stock back to its high. The 52-week high of $658.52, about 17.5 percent above Tuesday’s close.

The bear case sits below Tuesday’s close. These are reference levels measured from the verified close, not forecasts; analyst 12-month targets run from $365 to $1,250 with an average of $637.61.

What to watch

  • Wednesday 28 October, 2 pm ET: the Fed decision, then Chair Kevin Warsh’s press conference.
  • Wednesday after the close: Microsoft and Alphabet capex guidance; Amazon follows on Thursday. Our Nasdaq preview has the schedule.
  • Tuesday 3 November, after the close: AMD third-quarter results and fourth-quarter guidance.
  • Helios: any timeline for broader deployment at Meta.

Quick take: AMD closed at $560.26 on Tuesday, up 5.45 percent, after confirming Helios racks are running at Meta and committing $1 billion to Meta’s stock offering. Results land on 3 November, and the Street is split on guidance, not the quarter. Expect $540-$590 into the print. Strong hyperscaler capex and a raise open $658; a hawkish Fed or weak capex opens $516.
