Bitcoin (BTC) Is Struggling: Does the Path Back to $80K Still Hold?

  • Bitcoin (BTC) is currently trading near $77.1K.
  • The sellers are in firm control and driving the price lower.

The largest and dominant digital asset, Bitcoin (BTC), is currently trading at $77,187 with the volume settled at $31.03 billion. Also, it has been ranging between $77,176 and $79,529 over the past 24 hours. The broader 7-day range sits between $76,392 and $79,701.

Key stakeholder wallets, those holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC, historically known for correlating tightly with future price direction, have used the recent hype window to reduce exposure. Their holdings are down 0.20% over the past three weeks.

Meanwhile, retail wallets holding under 0.01 BTC did the opposite. After weeks of dumping, they stopped and slowly started adding, gaining 0.09% since the FOMO peak. Whales trimming while retail chases has marked overheated local tops. It does not guarantee a drop, but the easy upside phase is over without stronger confirmation.

Bitcoin’s Key Support and Resistance Levels

If the bearish grip tightens, the price could fall to a crucial support range at $76K. Assuming the sellers continue to stay within the market, additional downside pressure is likely to trigger the emergence of the death cross and gradually send the Bitcoin price to around $75.6K.

With the market trend of BTC taking a bullish turn, the price could instantly rise to the key resistance at $78K. As upside pressure gains more traction, potential bulls would initiate the formation of the golden cross, and the price may climb to $79.5K. Until that happens, price stays choppy and weak.

BTC Momentum Weakens: Are More Losses Incoming?

The technical analysis shows that when both the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line and the signal line sit below the zero line, the asset is in a firm macro downtrend. This crossover indicates that the short-term bearish momentum is accelerating within that existing downtrend.

This confirms strong selling pressure, showing that sellers are in firm control and continuing to drive BTC prices lower. However, both lines are already deep below zero; it is also important to watch for oversold conditions or fading sell volume that could lead to a relief rally.

Besides, Bitcoin’s daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) resting at 41.30 pushes it into neutral territory, leaning slightly toward the bearish side of the mid-line. This indicates that selling momentum has recently outpaced buying pressure, but not intensely enough to push the market into oversold territory.

A value in the lower 40s reflects a mild consolidation, or a moderate pullback within a broader trend. Traders typically view this level as a wait-and-see zone. It is far from the extreme oversold or overbought thresholds; the current move lacks high-conviction momentum in either direction.
