Another airline suddenly cancels all flights, offers refunds

Only four years after BeOnd launched with a vision of selling direct flights to the Maldives, the market has changed considerably amid the spike in jet fuel prices and the security situation in the Middle East.

The premium airline was established in Dubai in 2022 with an Airbus A319 and an A321 plane configured with exclusively lie-flat business seats. BeOnd had been running flights to the capital of the Maldives from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, as well as European cities such as Milan and Zürich.

BeOnd’s plans for direct flights to the U.S. were scrapped at the end of November 2025, when its partner, Anchorage-based New Pacific Airlines, ceased operating. BeOnd was also planning service to London and Paris when the U.S.-Israeli strike on Iran and ensuing retaliatory attacks in February 2026 threw the entire Middle Eastern region into chaos.

The island nation associated with extreme luxury is located just 1,900 miles from Dubai across the Indian Ocean, and several of its routes from farther-away destinations operated through a stopover in the city.

BeOnd briefly restarts flights, shuts down again for November 2026

As passenger numbers fell dramatically following Iranian drone strikes on Dubai in the early spring, BeOnd grounded its fleet and essentially shut down for the summer in hopes that the situation would stabilize by then.

BeOnd did briefly restart some of its services from Zurich, Munich, and Milan last October but has now once again suspended all scheduled flights until December 2026.

“Our scheduled flights will not operate in November 2026,” the airline wrote in its latest travel update for customers. “The decision reflects current conditions in the region. “Flights affected [include] all scheduled flights from 30 October to 30 November 2026.”

The airline goes on to cite “current conditions in the region” as the reason for the latest round of cancellations, which likely refers to ongoing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, which have led multiple governments to up their travel warnings for citizens.

Without the ability to run flights and generate income over the last eight months, BeOnd has also been financially strained, leading to delays in paying its crew, One Mile at a Time reported.

BeOnd promises refunds for travelers with canceled flights

The cancellations do not affect any chartered flights that the airline also offers. These will continue to be run and handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on the current security situation in the region.

More Travel News:

BeOnd confirmed that anyone who booked flights in November can choose either to move their booking to a later date or receive a refund to the original method of payment. Passengers can also receive the paid amount as travel credit that’s valid for 18 months from the original travel date.

“Our Guest Experience team will contact you within 72 hours, using the details in your booking,” the airline said further on the flight suspensions, noting the possibility of service resumption being moved forward or backward.

“If anything changes, you will hear from us first,” BeOnd wrote.
